Not Now Bernard by David McKee

1. Can you sequence the story? We would like you to either draw your own pictures or use the images attached to sequence the main events from the story.

Challenge: can you write a few sentences for each part of the story?

2. Draw a picture and write about your favourite part of the story.

Year 1 Phonics O-e split vowel

Can you read the words today with the o-e split vowel?.

This half term we are thinking about the events that lead up to Easter Celebrations.

Our Key Question this half term is to think about how Christians welcomed Jesus on Palm Sunday and how it shows how special he was to them.

Today we would like you to think about how the Queen is welcomed today when she attends openings or events. The Queen arriving is the closest example we can give you to explain how people may have felt when Jesus arrived in their town.

Watch the 2 short video clips below and talk to a grown up about what you see, How is she welcomed in each? are any things different? What is the same?

The Queen's visit to Ireland:

The Queen and Prince Philip visit Liverpool

Your Activity.

Think about how you would welcome an important or special visitor to your home or town. You might want to imagine that the Queen is coming to visit us at school. How could we welcome her? We would like you to get creative and make something to welcome a special or important visitor. This could be bunting, a banner, poster or picture. It is up to you. Maybe think about what you would like to receive or look at if you were the special visitor.
