English.

Today we are going to continue our work on how the characters in our story might be feeling. Yesterday you had a go at 'Hot Seating'. Today we would like to have a go at recording these ideas in some simple sentences.

Starter task.

To help you with your writing, start off by making a mind-map of words for each character. This will really help you think of the best adjectives to describe how the characters might be feeling.

WAGOLL.

Now try putting your best adjective into a sentence.

WAGOLL:

Challenge. Can you use the conjunction because to explain why the character is feeling this way? Can you use more than 1 adjective to explain how the character is feeling?

Maths.

Today we want you to continue with measuring objects and comparing lengths. Today we would like you to find objects and measure them using the same non standard unit of measure. This will help you compare the lengths.

Watch the short video below to help you.

Measuring with Non Standard Units.

Some ideas for how to measure with Non-Standard Units of Measure.

Reading.

Read a book to a grown up for at least 10 minutes. Remember to use your phonics to help you and record your reading in your school reading diary.

Year 1 Phonics- i-e split vowel diagraph.

Can you join in and read the words with the split vowel i-e?

Science.

Our new topic this half term is:

Can you name the 4 seasons?

What season is it now?

What season will be next?

Do you know what season your birthday is?

What season is your favourite season? why?

Listen to the season songs below to remind you of the 4 seasons and the different months that are in each season.  Which song is your favourite?

Watch the short video clips below to see how the seasons change the environment around us.

Your Activity.

Choose an activity sheet, attached below, to complete about the 4 seasons or make your own seasons picture, labelling the 4 seasons and the months of the year that come in each season.

By the end of your lesson today you should be able to name the seasons, name the months of the year in each season and show an understanding of how the weather changes in each season and how this affects humans, plants and animals.
