Welcome to a new week. This week there are lots of activities about the story of 'The Gingerbread Man'. Remember to do what you can and adapt any activities to suit you. Have fun!
It is also 'Children's Mental Health Week' this week so here are some resources that you may want to use at some point this week.
Reception Home Learning for Monday 1st February
Phonics
Today, our new digraph is ar. Remember that a digraph is two letters together that make one sound. Join in with blending to read the words on the videos below.
Reading
Listen to and join in with the story of 'The Gingerbread Man'.
Do you think it was a good ending? Why/ why not?
Can you think of a different ending for the story?
Writing
Draw a picture of the gingerbread man running away from the rest of the characters in the story and write the names of the characters next to them.
Maths
See for todays maths.
Other Curriculum Areas
Can you make your own gingerbread man? You could use some cardboard and ask a grown-up to draw the shape for you to cut around. You could then decorate it with whatever you have at home. You could bake your own gingerbread person or decorate one.

Today, we are going to practise writing some letters correctly. You will need some paper and a pen or pencil.

Today we are going to continue combining two groups to find out how many we have altogether. Look at the activity below and then have a go at making your own pictures . You could have grapes and strawberries or yellow lego and orange lego. You could use the 10 frame to show how many you have altogether.

The Gingerbread Man was eaten because he couldn't swim across the river. Could you make a bridge for the Gingerbread Man to cross over. Be creative!

Phonics
We have been learning about the sounds that letters make but today we are going to learn that letters have names too. It's just like a cow is called a cow but it makes a moo sound. Watch the Alphablocks and join in with the alphabet song.
Writing
Can you write the letters of the alphabet in order?
Can you write the capital letters to match?
Below are some things that you could use. There is a sheet to write capital letters to match lower case letters. There is also a gingerbread capital letter sheet. You could point to the letters and say what they are or if you can print them out you can cut them up and arrange them in the correct order or next to some matching lower case letters.
Maths
Yesterday we used the part/whole model in our maths work. Today we would like you to use that model again to find ways of making 7 and 8. Remember you can draw one, use hoops, plates or print one out.

Reading
Some of you may be missing school, your friends and even family at the moment which can be hard. Some of you may be happy to be at home. Some people may feel sad, worried or angry. It's okay to have these feelings. Listen to the story below. We can look forward to seeing each other again and what a fun time we will have!
